About FCA
What is FCA?
The FCA East Africa is a non-profit organization, representing the interests of some 200 journalists covering (East) African countries. The association holds regular meetings and invites high profile personalities and experts for off the record discussions on developments in the region. It also acts as a watchdog for press freedom and strives to ensure that its members are able to work without being harassed. FCA issues an International Press Card.
Who can join?
Any foreign correspondent, based in East Africa and covering the region or the continent, as well as colleagues working for international media. Communication officers, press attachés etc. are invited to become associate members. They have all the members benefits excluding the right ot vote.
Requirements
- You need to be a foreign correspondent or work for international media based in the region
- Information officers etc. can become associate members, excluding the right to vote
- Freelancers are asked to present one of their articles or a recommendation letter
- Members need two passport size photographs
- The yearly membership fee is 3000 KES (until 31 Dec). Freelancers pay 2000 KES
- Temporary membership up to three months is 1000 KES
